This movie quite honestly passed me by; I had no knowledge of it until now and I’m kind of surprised because I generally keep up on current films rather well, but after viewing it the initial surprise led to an understanding of why I had never heard of it.
It starts off with a small back-story that leaves you questioning the events by fast-forwarding to present day. As the film goes on we get random flashbacks that offer insight to what is going on and right from the first few segments with the leading family you can sense the ending of this film. To keep this short and sweet, it feels like a kid’s movie and while the story could have been fleshed out a little better, it is not all bad –that being said, it incorporates a much overused plot with an ending that surprises no one.
If you are looking for a light-hearted, family-friendly ‘slasher’ then this is one to watch because while watching it you can imagine it being an ABC Family channel movie premiering on a summer night, which is not bad, but really does not qualify as horror in any regard. To be fair the movie is just as good as any other kiddy slasher (even though it is not supposed to be) and would offer a fun time for parents to watch with their kids, but other than that this shortcut is better left alone.
