Brought to us by Unit9, a company specializing in new media, Five Minutes has you take control of a man who just got the blood of a zombie mixed in with his own. It’s an interactive live-action movie that should sate those looking for a short bit of entertainment.
The idea behind the game is that the first symptom of becoming a zombie is memory loss and that the process of turning takes a maximum of five minutes. A young girl, presumably your daughter, is waiting in another room while you try to remember the events that led up to you becoming infected. In order to do so, the game has you complete quick-time events that involve holding down a button or drawing a symbol on the screen.
I gave the game a look and while this isn’t a review or anything, I will say that it’s pretty fun, if a little inaccurate. It’s a quick zombie story that lasts as long as it needs to, but the film stuttered quite a bit for me, making some deaths unavoidable. The drawing also felt like playing an early DS game, in the sense that it’s difficult to interpret what the game will find acceptable, plus drawing with the mouse is far from comfortable. If you have some time to kill, then it’s worth a look, but don’t expect anything too fantastic.
