Year Walk Devs Write Collection Of Short Horror Stories For Children

Even when I was a kid, I loved being spooked. Are You Afraid Of The Dark?Goosebumps, and even more obscure things like the gleefully twisted Ghastlycrumb Tinies. I loved pouring over old EC Comics Tales From The Crypt and watching the short lived Eerie, Indiana. But this is something else entirely.

The developers of Year Walk have just released a series of PDF based short horror stories for children. Nothing viciously gruesome or grotesque, but seriously disturbing in their own right, especially some of the frankly gorgeous artwork. They all seem to fit into the same vein as Year Walk, as the website describes them as “newly written ancient folk tales from the dark woods of Sweeden”.

They certainly seem to have that old world kind of horror to them. You know the ones, the stories that parents told their children before bed to scare them into behaving, but that where honestly really messed up? I’m getting that vibe from these. Check them out for yourself if you have the time.
