Existing somewhere between the works of Brett Helquist and Edward Gorey, Year Walk was a haunting picture book style adventure game released on iOS devices earlier this year and was met with resounding praise. Well, for those of us without iDevices, we’ll soon be able to get our hands on a copy of Year Walk soon enough, as the developer, Simogo, has announced a PC and Mac version for Steam early next year!
Set on New Year’s Eve in 19th century Sweden, Year Walk is an original and creative first person adventure game, combining a unique style of old-school point and click gameplay, with more modern puzzle solving. Featuring a haunting and atmospheric story centering around ancient Swedish folklore and superstition, Year Walk sets out to blur the line between reality and fantasy, and offer up a compelling and creepy tale of ghostly visions and a deep, dark secret only its players can learn.
While the game will be updated to better accommodate the new hardware (more effects, new puzzles designed for a keyboard, and even a map has been added), Simogo has stressed that the new version will not necessarily be “better”, just re-designed for a different market. You can read up on more information in the link below.
Year Walk will be spooking up PC and Mac early 2014 via Steam.
