White Night is a horror-themed puzzle game that takes a lot of inspiration from the Alone in the Dark franchise and combines it with influences from famous directors, such as Hitchcock and Polanski. While we didn’t notice the game when it was first shown back in October, we think it’s still worth checking out.
Set in America’s early thirties, the game puts players into the role of a man who stumbled upon a mansion and decided to enter it in an attempt to find refugee. Of course, entering a mysterious mansion is bound to suck you into an adventure, and just like Edward Carnby back in 1992, the man now has to puzzle his way through the house. Puzzles will largely revolve around the manipulation of light, since the safety of the main character depends on staying within illuminated areas. This also ties in with the neat black & white art-style, which the trailer below simply loves to show off.
The game is scheduled for release in 2014 and is being developed by the new, independent studio OSome.
