Since the release of the Silent Hill 2 remake by Bloober Team and Konami last October, fans have eagerly awaited confirmation of the release of the bonus side story from the original game featuring Maria, Born From a Wish. It seemed like an announcement was imminent, but as of now, there has been no release date or mention of the add-on.
However, there might be hope on the horizon with the upcoming Silent Hill Transmission, scheduled for March 13th at 3 PM PDT / 6 PM EDT. While Konami has indicated that the Transmission will primarily focus on details about Silent Hill f, past livestreams have usually featured at least one or two surprises.
We’re also hoping for more news regarding Bloober Team and Konami’s continued collaboration on another popular IP, which rumors suggest could be a new Castlevania title, although nothing has been officially confirmed. The Castlevania franchise hasn’t had a mainstream title since the two Lords of Shadow games attempted to reboot the series with a more action-oriented style in 2010 and 2014, with mixed results.
A wild idea I had for a series reboot would be to reimagine the franchise as a modern third-person survival horror game, incorporating the history and lore of the original vampire-hunting Belmont clan. Imagine a Castlevania-meets-Alone-in-the-Dark/Belmont in a trench coat title. But that’s just me wishfully thinking out loud.
As always, we’ll have to wait until Konami confirms either of these projects. In the meantime, be sure to tune into the Silent Hill Transmission livestream via the Official Silent Hill YouTube channel on March 13th.
