Last time we talked about VTM: Bloodlines 2, it was all about a new Dev Commentary video regarding the E3 demo. We got some insight into the way they went about writing the game and designing the RPG elements to make a cohesive vampiric society. It’s pretty awesome stuff, and my hype levels for Bloodlines 2 have been at a pretty steady high ever since its wonderful announcement earlier in the year (seriously if you haven’t seen it, it’s bloody amazing). On top of that commentary (and a dev diary) we also got an introduction to the first of Bloodlines 2‘s five factions — the Pioneers. This month, we’ve been given a peak into the second faction, the deviously powerful and rich in blood… money Camarilla. Included in a very awesome poster are some factoids about the faction.
“CONTRARY TO WHAT YOU MIGHT THINK, I ENJOY HAVING ENEMIES. IT MAKES ME… CAREFUL – KEEPS ME CREATIVE. THERE’S NOT MUCH OF A FUTURE FOR COMPLACENT RULERS.”
– Alec Cross
POWER PLAYERS
Seattle has become one of the most lucrative tech- and business cities in the world. In the shadows of that boom, a new kind of Kindred has emerged in the city: Sleek, business-minded; ready to influence the city from the top-floor board rooms.
Led by Prince Cross and ingrained in the corporate landscape of Seattle, the Camarilla has managed to turn its connections to tech billionaires and investment bankers into dominion over the Emerald City.
THE LONG GAME
After 20 years at the top, every member of Cross’ faction is still very aware of being the city’s biggest target. While Cross knows that not every vampire in the city accepts the Camarilla, he has given them just enough power to not having to worry about them organizing and moving against him. Stability, prosperity, and the Masquerade have been the key components of his policy.
I’m all over this, man. The Camarilla are the source of one of the original Bloodlines main quests, and while as a Brujah I found them stuffy and officious, many of you will probably take a liking to the sheer power one accepted into their inner circle enjoys. Just don’t be surprised if the rest of that 99% hate your guts.
Vampire – The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 releases March 2020 across PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
