If the fact that stores are already stocking Halloween merchandise isn’t enough to get you in the spirit, this certainly should. Obscura, an ambitious VR project by the creator of Slender Rising, is releasing in plenty of time for Halloween, as promised. It will be available on Steam this Friday, July 28 for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift+Touch, with releases on the Oculus Store and Viveport to follow.
Obscura is an unconventional, highly individual experience that immerses players in “an endless circle of fear,” according to developer Michael Hegemann. It aims to avoid complicated controls, relying on randomized events that encourage multiple playthroughs. Hegemann self-funded Obscura as its sole developer and cites fully immersive VR titles theBlu and Everest as inspirations. Follow him on Twitter @HegiDev for more info and updates.
