Vergil, Dante’s twin brother from the Devil May Cry series, has been revealed to be in Ninja Theory’s reboot. As the leader of The Order, an anti-demon group, Vergil uses his powers and resources to expose society’s corrupt ways due to demons influence. Subliminal messages can be found in the environment much like in the movie They Live. Instead of just promoting obeying leadership figures, the messages also promote sinning.
The latest trailer from gamescom reveals that Vergil is indeed in DmC. We’ve seen him before but his identity was shielded. Unlike Dante who was raised in an orphanage, Vergil was raised by an intelligent, wealthy family. This lead to Vergil being powerful not only in body but also in mind. He seems to be an all-around goody goody.
The trailer goes on to show a scene where Dante wants to save Kat from the demons. This scene appears to be one near the end of the game that sends Dante toward his last mission to save Kat and the world. So dreamy.
While I’m not a fan of Capcom’s need to show story twists and too much story in their trailers, I’m still pretty psyched to see what kind of relationship the two brothers will have in this game. Despite Vergil being the antagonist in Devil May Cry 3, there was always a mutual respect between he and Dante. They may have disagreed with each other but they had a bond. However their relationship plays out in this reboot, it’s pretty cool seeing Vergil return. I wonder if reboot versions of Trish or Lady will be in the game as well.
Check out the latest trailer and some screens below. DmC releases January 15th.
