Valve celebrates Halloween with Team Fortress and Left 4 Dead on Steam

For the past few years Valve has provided holiday updates for Team Fortress 2. This year they’re continuing the tradition with zombies and an evil ghost wizard. This may all sound a bit silly, but don’t worry, it’s kind of explained in this comic here. Also, it is pretty silly.

The Halloween update brings a king of the hill map in which a boss monster, the wizard Merasmus can spawn. In addition to this, the update brings Wave 666, a zombie survival map for the co-op Mann vs. Machine game mode.

Pumpkins! Spiderwebs! Hay bales! If you can think of anything scarier than that, maybe you should give Master of Horror John Carpenter a call, because he’ll probably give you a job! But this terrifying new MvM mission didn’t stop at hay bales, horror fans — your robot attackers have been replaced by a single apocalyptic wave of zombies!

Valve is also running a free weekend on Left 4 Dead 2. If you don’t already own the game and would like to try it, you can install and play it on Steam now up until the 29th. For those who do already own the game, there is a new achievement for helping out free players.
