Update to The Forest tweaks lighting & AI, adds ‘Procedural Breast Size System’

Before you decide to go up-in-arms or think that I’m about to go up-in-arms over a developer adding randomized breast sizes to their games, check out this article I wrote about the need for tasteful nudity in video games. Did you read it? Do you see how this addition may be nothing more than a move by the developers to add some attention to detail to their game? Perhaps the start of more additions to make The Forest‘s enemies more diverse and unique-looking? Alright? Alright.

The Forest has been updated to version 0.04. In the patch notes, we can see that the game has seen some updates to its lighting, enemy AI (now introducing sleep schedules for the cannibals), health and damage system, and a mess of bug fixes. New female enemy types have also been added, with a ‘Procedural Breast Size System’ put into place to ostensibly add visual differences among enemies.

I’m sure some people will see the breast size system as something potentially rooted in objectification, but as long as we see some variations to enemy types as a whole (male or female), I think we’ll be OK. The Forest is still in very early alpha, and a lot of changes are expected.

Check out the Steam page for the full patch notes.
