A few teenagers head out into a cabin in the middle of the woods? Check. Hammy premise that’s completely unrealistic starring a crazed and deranged killer? Check. Terrible voice acting and laughably stupid characters? Check. Boobs? Check. Until Dawn is a newly announced Playstation Move game which is clearly aiming for a B-movie feel to it. While looking unfortunately similar to most recent American horror films from the last decade, it’s a premise that’s been surprisingly mostly absent from horror games the last few years, in big part since a lot of horror games these days try to take themselves seriously (to varying success).
The developers say they were ‘inspired’ by the many different ‘teen horror flicks’ that get produced. In the game, a small group of teens go to the site one of their friends went missing a year ago, and fall into a deadly trap. Using the PS Move for various actions (such as a flashlight beacon), it is up to our various teens to solve the mystery and escape before they are all wiped out by a mysterious killer. The game plays out in different ways depending on how you approach each situation, and it’s up to you who lives and dies in this classic-styled slasher.
While we question if this can be a legitimately good game, or at least a ‘so-bad-it’s-good’ game, the premise is interesting to its credit. You can check out the reveal trailer below.
