It seems that Until Dawn 2, the sequel to the hit 2015 game, is officially in development, and it’s being worked on by Firesprite Studio. This news comes after months of speculation, with fans eagerly awaiting confirmation of a sequel. The original Until Dawn developed by Supermassive Games became a fan favorite for its narrative-driven horror and decision-based gameplay.
According to Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Baker, the co-founder of Xbox Era, Until Dawn 2 is real and is being developed by Firesprite Studio, a team that was acquired by Sony in 2021. In a post on social media, Baker shared, “Call me selfish, but I’m annoyed I wasn’t able to leak. I knew about this,” and added, “Apparently, it’s Firesprite making it.”
There were earlier hints about Firesprite working on a dark, narrative-driven game in 2022. Job postings from the studio suggested a focus on storytelling, atmosphere, and strong character performances. While Until Dawn 2 has not been officially announced yet, these details fit with what is known about the sequel. As with all leaks, it’s best to wait for an official announcement to be sure.
In related news, a remake of Until Dawn is set to launch on October 4, 2024, for PS5 and PC. Fans will just have to wait and see if the rumors of a sequel turn out to be true.
