A new teaser trailer has just dropped for the season two premiere of The Dark Pictures Anthology, entitled, Directive 8020.
In what looks like a departure from the typical gothic horror of developer Supermassive Games’ series so far, Directive 8020 takes place in the ominous void of space.
The teaser begins with a transmission notifying the crew of the reconnaissance vessel Cassiopeia that they have suffered a hull impact on their approach to a new planet, but that the damage is minimal. That statement is belied by what we see on screen, as a cracked helmet drips particles of blood in zero-g. Behind it, a hull door opens and reveals a glowing purple planet below.
In search of humanity’s new home, the vessel comes under attack by an alien influence and infects its crew. Flashes of a luminescent, fibrous growth can be seen overtaking the interior of the ship. The teaser ends with the frantic transmission of a crew member saying another crew member is trying to kill them. The transmission then abruptly cuts off.
Supermassive is getting very creative with not only its logos for its anthology series but also with its varied output of the titles themselves. Season Two looks to have another wide selection of dramatically different entries.
We’ll let you know as soon as we know more about Directive 8020 and the rest of the season two lineup.
