Manga Gamer is treating its horror fans well these days. Not only did The House in Fata Morgana release just days ago (our review is on the way), but now store pages have popped up for not one, but two entries in the When They Cry series.
The third chapter of Higurashi: When They Cry will come out on June 24, 2016. The Tatarigoroshi chapter (Japanese for “Curse Killing”) will focus mainly on the character of Satoko, who has been shown in the past two chapters to be a mischievous and sometimes bratty kid. It will be enjoyable to read more about her and see a different side of the character. If you disliked her in the previous story arcs, then this one may change your mind on her entirely.
More surprising, perhaps, is the news that Umineko: When They Cry is apparently releasing in early July. Considering the time it took for the first chapters of Higurashi to come out, I had honestly expected we would be waiting for much longer after we first learned about the project less than a year ago. While there are no pre-orders available for either novel, you can already head over to the store page and admire the screenshots. Just like with Higurashi, Umineko features an option that allows you to swap between the new and old sprite art. There are good things to say about either versions, so it’s cool that fans get to pick which they like best.
