Original Post: I wouldn’t want to be in Terminal Reality’s shoes at this point. Making a video game based on a popular license is hard enough as it is, but when you also need to compete with Telltale’s version of The Walking Dead, then you got one hell of a legacy to live up to. The studio behind Bloodrayne 2 is still giving it a shot, though, and now we got the first trailer to talk about.
The video is currently been bombarded with various flavors of hate-messages from fans, which honestly doesn’t surprise me that much. People seem to agree that the game’s graphics look terrible and the gameplay doesn’t promise anything special. For now I must agree with most of the comments, since the first time I saw the video it was paused on a scene of the guy wielding an axe and I honestly thought it was a Left 4 Dead 1 clip of some sort. If they can put more emphasis on the sneaking shown earlier in the trailer or come up with some other unusual mechanics, then maybe this title can still garner some support before its release somewhere in 2013.
Enough commentary from me, though. What do you think?
Update: Welp, it seems like that trailer was not an official release by Activision. Even fooling Activision’s social media manager Dan Amrich, the trailer released contained gameplay footage that was not meant to be used as promotional material. The gameplay footage, which comes from an early preview of the game, was first shown on IGN’s “Up at Noon” series with Greg Miller. The trailer that fooled many was simply an edit of the early footage that was scattered throughout the Up at Noon episode.
Hopefully this will ease concerns about the game’s quality. Now we just wait for something more official that will show the game’s current state. Anyone feel a bit better now?
