Terminal Reality must really be feeling the heat right now. Hot off the heels of Telltale Games’ epic episodic release, they’re set to feature what looks on first blush like a run-of-the-mill zombie shooter. Their latest trailers (the fan-made one and the official bit) were a tad…disappointing, for lack of a better word. Their gameplay footage was a little dismal, but principal effects artist Glenn Gamble says that we’re just being too quick to judge, particularly because the footage shown in the trailers was apparently old.
Old? Like how old?
That begs the question, if the game is supposed to release in March, why are they still showing off old footage? Isn’t this the time where game developers are supposed to be…you know, selling their games?
Regardless, Gamble stated to Eurogamer that they’ve made “big strides” since then. While they didn’t provide video footage (to prove themselves right…or wrong), they did release a few new screenshots.
Gamble told Eurogamer
That’s the thing about a game. It’s constantly evolving and getting better.
That’s true – a game in development can change very quickly, from something that doesn’t look too hot, to something that looks pretty damned amazing. Perhaps, if that footage is as old as they claim it is, we are all just being a bit too hasty with our judgment?
Time is the ultimate enemy of any game. If everybody had four years and an infinite budget every game would probably be infinitely better than they are. But eventually you run out of time and the date gets cut off and you just have to make the game at that point.
…Oh.
