[Update: According to Destructoid, Season 2 of The Walking Dead can be expected Fall 2013, not 2014. That’s a whole year less of waiting. Hooray!]
Telltale Game’s episodic The Walking Dead has become a gargantuan hit, selling millions upon million of episodes while continuing to garner more and more critical praise. While the season 1 finale was released back in November, we’ve known since last summer that a season 2 was already in development. With everyone clamoring for more of Telltale’s adventure horror series, you’d figure they would strike while the iron was still hot. Well it looks as though we’re all going to have to just sit and be patient, because it sounds like we wont be seeing the second season of The Walking Dead any time soon.
In recent interview with Eurogamer, CEO of Telltale Games Dan Connors said “We’re aiming for fall next year(2014)”. That’s quite a long wait, and if the first episode of season 2 is indeed not coming out till fall 2014, that will mean there will be a near 2 year gap between season 1 and 2. Despite the long wait however, Dan confirmed the recent news that more Walking Dead will be coming to us soon though with “We’ll probably have something to announce fairly soon about what we’re going to do”. It’s interesting to hear that they have more Walking Dead content on the way for this year despite the news that we probably wont see the second season till 2014.
Regardless of all that though, I’m sure Telltale is just taking the necessary steps to ensure the second season is able to meet the sky high expectations set in place by the series thus far.
