Today I played through a little game called “The Static” and while this isn’t a formal review of any sort, I would recommend checking it out, since it’s a short game available for free that manages to be really creepy in an entertaining way.
Essentially, the game has you walk around a house for a few minutes and observe just how insane the “protagonist” has gotten. You must go to the toilet, eat, check out the internet, stuff we all do, but this person does these tasks… abnormally. The house itself is also filled with dozens of copies of the same painting that someone has clearly obsessively analyzed. It’s not the most engaging type of gameplay, but for what the game tries to accomplish (weirding you out for about ten minutes) it serves its purpose well.
