Support with the touchpad controller, reduced load times, and spicier visuals are not the only reasons to purchase Diablo 3 for your PlayStation 4. Some cool (and horrifying) new features will come packaged exclusively with the PS4 version, Matthew Berger tells Polygon.
The first is something that sounds most excellently cool, Avenger Kills. Certain monsters within the game will level up when they kill you and get stronger, but their lust for blood rises as well, for they’ll jump into a game where one of your friends is playing and kill them too! Then, they get even stronger and do it again and again. The monsters appearance will be noted by a dimming sky and a clear message saying “[Friend’s Name] Bane” has entered your world. If you and your friends can manage to defeat one of these monsters, all of the slayed victims will earn special loot.
Secondly, players who acquire Legendary loot drops will receive a second item of Rare or Legendary value for the specific purpose of being gifted to one of their friends. Only the players who open the gifts will be able to use them, which means no duplication or otherwise bending the rules to find more.
“Even though you and I are not adventuring together,” Berger told Polygon, “I can give you something, and still make it feel like we’re playing together.”
For those players upgrading from the PS3 to the PS4 version, Blizzard has stated there will be a way to transfer your character over, but haven’t released details as to how just yet. PS4 owners with a Vita can expect to Remote Play Diablo 3 as well. Although there’s no word on it, a discount for PS3 players buying the PS4 version would be nice…
