A promotional video of the stage adaptation of Spike Chunsoft’s Danganronpa series (appropriately titled Danganronpa: The Stage) surfaced on the internet today, and I’m not sure if it’s hilarious or the most terrifying thing I’ve ever seen (do be warned: it includes vague spoilers for the first chapter of Danganronpa).
The video, which features re-enacted snippets of the first game’s prologue and first chapter, includes footage of the cartoonishly-over-the-top costumed cast introducing themselves before transitioning to a hyperactive dance performance put on by actors decked in Monokuma-styled hoodies that wouldn’t seem out of place in an acid trip.
The only returning cast member from the games is the iconic Nobuyo Oyama as Monokuma, although it appears that her voice clips are simply recycled from the games with no new material recorded.
Danganronpa: The Stage premiers tomorrow in Japan and will run until next Monday, the 3rd of November.
