If you’re looking for Lovecraftian horror, this trailer has it in spades. Cyanide Studio’s Call of Cthulhu looks like it’s shaping up to be a true Lovecraftian experience, and a quality one at that.

Call of Cthulhu is an investigative horror with RPG and stealth elements based on the H.P. Lovecraft story of the same name. Last month, Cyanide gave us some atmospheric screenshots. Now we have a new trailer, appropriately titled “Depths of Madness,” featuring a creature of the deep, an eerie cult, fear of the unknown, and plenty of madness. Check it out!

Call of Cthulhu releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One sometime this year. The official synopsis:

A Private Detective, Edward Pierce is on a mission to find the truth behind the death of an acclaimed artist and her family on a backwater island. Pierce is used to trusting his instincts, but with whale mutilations and disappearing bodies, this is only the beginning as reality becomes skewed. As your investigation leads you closer to the sphere of influence of the Great Dreamer, you will start to doubt everything you see. You will have to find balance between your own sanity, and your determination in finding out what lurks in the shadows – as they say that madness is the only way that can bring you to the truth.
