Looks like Naughty Dog is staying true to their name. How so, I hear you ask? Well, let’s just say they let a little something slip in their latest masterpiece, The Last of Us (check out my review!).
That “something” is the inclusion of sex hotline phone numbers. Yes, you read that right. These were spotted by a tipster that took a photo of a bulletin board in the game. Said board had two phone numbers, which just so happened to be sex hotlines. The recipient of the tip from Kotaku called up the numbers and, yes, they were real (for actual evidence, you can check out the source link for an audio snippet!).
The game’s creative director Neil Druckmann, is aware of this, citing it as being an “artist’s mistake.” He stated the following:
“What happened was, they put some phone numbers in the game and then they thought they could just change the area code to 555, then it’s invalid because it’s what they do in movies. But I guess that doesn’t work when you have a 1-800 in front of it.
We’re now working to take it out.”
Did anyone else experience this?
