There are a few things I know for sure when it comes to IT: the router doesn’t work when it’s unplugged, deleting a shortcut on your desktop doesn’t remove the program and, of course, downloads have to finish before you can use them. Naughty Dog seeks to alter this last rule, however, by making their upcoming survival game The Last of Us playable after the download has passed the halfway point.
After the game has finished 50% of the download, players will be able to start the game and play it without any problems whatsoever. The remaining 50% will then be downloaded while the player is already having fun. This was revealed by Naughty Dog’s creative director Neil Druckmann and The Last of Us game director Bruce Straley. How they managed to make the game playable with half of its data missing is a mystery to me, but I admit that it’s a pretty sweet bit of sorcery.
The Last of Us will be released, both physically and digitally, on June 14 2013 for the Playstation 3.
