The Evil Within PC patch improves optimization for high-end GPUs

After releasing patches for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of The Evil Within last week, Bethesda has now dropped a patch for the game on PC. With the promise of optimization and bug fixes for achievements, Bethesda’s latest patch seems to make good on those promises.

Users on NeoGaf are reporting that the game has indeed received optimization improvements, allowing them to play the game at a higher framerate than previous possible. After giving the game a go myself, I can report that I too have gained a few additional frames, but nothing to make me switch from the 30fps option to 60fps. My Radeon 7970 just doesn’t make the cut.

On one hand it’s a bit disappointing that the PC port released in such an unoptimized (but playable) state, but on the other it’s great seeing Bethesda actively patch the game on a platform that was probably the least successful.

What about you guys? Anyone noticing improvements?
