IGN has lead with the reveal of The Evil Within, the first game by Tango Gameworks, a company lead by Shinji Mikami, the father of Resident Evil, and a talented team full of people formerly from Platinum Games and Grasshopper Manufacture. While not much information was given on the game, a series of screens and a teaser trailer have been released. We also know it is releasing on the 360, PS3, PC, and next-gen consoles in 2014, and Tango are developing it as a franchise rather than a single entry in mind.
“We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within. My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action,” Mikami states.
It looks a lot like Resident Evil 4, but with a much stronger grotesque environment, disturbing imagery and strange monsters, and a few advancements in mechanics, the clear one right now being sneaking. There apparently will be a gameplay demo video and impressions available on the 22nd, but in the mean-time, check out the game’s screenshots below.
