Dead Space 2 will be landing on shelves next week so we’re already starting to see a lot of reviews coming in for the sequel. But enough on that, we already know the game is going to be amazing, so instead, let’s focus on something else: the artistic design of Dead Space 2.
Take a good look at a necromorph and I’ll be willing to bet that you’ll be extremely horrified by what you see, if your aren’t already. Many people think of necromorphs of simply being an alien life-form, but, that’s not exactly the truth. Sure the virus may be alien in nature, but the necromorphs we see are quite human and also deeply inspired in human anatomy.
You should heave on over to Wired where they have a nice article up talking about this very aspect of the game. And you can check out an excerpt below, talking about the design of one of the new additions to the necromorph family: the puker. Also, be sure to check out the gallery below showing off the grotesque necromorphs in all their glory.
THE PUKER
1// The Puker’s hands have become elongated talons.
2// The original legs have entwined, and a clump of nerves and muscles have grown down to form an additional leg.
3// The wretch gets its name from the acidic bile it sprays through a widened esophagus. The fluid is formed in the mutated lungs, which swell to hideous proportions when full.
4// The Puker’s body bears the ravages of the acid it spews: The jaw and torso are disintegrating, and eventually the whole body will become a soupy mess.
