Indie gaming fans will be pleased to learn that Sandswept Studios has met its Kickstarter fundraising goal. The gaming community has shown generous support of the concept and the funds raised are now more than double the original goal set. There are still three days left to contribute to the Kickstarter project, which you can do here.
Sandswept Studios’ Geoff Keene recently sat down with Original Gamer for an interview, offering some new information on the ambitious project.
Keene calls The Dead Linger (TDL) not just another zombie game, but a true survival game against the undead. Surviving against the undead will be the central focus of the game, not just zombie gore. Those survival aspects are what will set TDL apart from other zombie games. However that’s not to say that facing off against hordes of the undead won’t be present in the game, it will just come second to fighting for survival in a big, big world.
The world, as of right now is about 25,000km square. This number may change, but essentially the world will be used as little or as much as players see fit. There’s so much to see and do in the world of TDL, from scavenging, to finding new hideouts, to building anti-zombie fortresses, to finding new and better items than the ones you found before. There will always be more to do and see, and we’ll be continually adding to it all the time throughout development.
The Dead Linger is set to be an open world FPS title, and Keene revealed that there will be a leveling system but that the specifics of said system haven’t been worked out as of yet. There are plans for players to pick and choose attributes for their characters, maybe even go so far as to call it a class system, however not much more was discussed on the topic.
If you’d like to read the interview, head on over to Original Gamer. Sandswept is currently working on getting the game through to the Alpha stage and plan to be finished in six months. Now that they have the funding, Keene ensures that by all accounts, Sandswept will deliver.
