Shadowgate is a classic point and click game back from 1987. It is part of the “MacVenture” series of games, following the detective themed Déjà Vu, and the haunted house horror Uninvited. Shadowgate went on to gain popularity with its NES release. Known for its brutal difficulty and graphic, descriptive deaths. It also has one of the best 8-bit soundtracks you’ll ever hear.
Zojoi is a studio formed by some of the original developers of these titles. They’ve obtained the rights to all three games and have begun work on a remake of Shadowgate. The remake plans to stay faithful to the original, taking place in the same rooms and environments while redesigning the puzzles and adding new features.
To help the remake along, the developers have gone to Kickstarter. Over there, they showcase some impressive footage along with the soundtrack which remains faithful to the NES version. With only 16 days left, the future of Shadowgate is uncertain. Hopefully their adventures don’t end here.
