After years of development, the release of Paranoid Productions’ adventure-infiltration game The Church in the Darkness is just around the corner. Thankfully the title will be releasing this August 2nd, and even better yet it is also set to make a debut on the Switch.
For the unfamiliar, The Church in the Darkness is a bird’s-eye view adventure game with not only procedurally changing gameplay elements but a shifting narrative as well. Starring Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie, the premise centers around the player character who is searching for their lost nephew who recently joined a South American cult. Each playthrough the beliefs and leaders of the cults change, and naturally how the player chooses to interact with the cult can as well. Given the circumstances, perhaps the church’s behavior is innocent enough to be left alone, or the beliefs of the cult won’t allow you to leave so peacefully.
The Church in the Darkness will launch at a 20% discounted price on all platforms bringing the price down to $15.99. On Steam, a special edition will also be available including the game’s soundtrack and behind the scenes videos.
