Paranoid Productions’ upcoming cultist-filled stealth game The Church in Darkness is now available to play in alpha. Limited to less than 1000 copies, The Church in Darkness: True Believer Special Edition costs $29.95 and unlocks instant access to a pre-release version of the game for PC. A sizeable portion of the game’s narrative is available, but the rest will be kept under wraps until the full release in 2019.
The special edition of The Church in Darkness also comes with a 28-track OST, behind the scenes videos, and some other digital extras. Along with the alpha, four tracks are available ahead of release with each purchase.
The Church in Darkness is the latest game from Richard Rouse III, the director of The Suffering. Set in the 1970s, players must navigate a cult compound in South America to save their nephew. To survive, stealth is essential. How one goes about their mission affects the overall game — lethal, non-lethal? Supposedly there will be consequences based on those decisions. The story will be told largely through the compound’s PA system, which is operated by cult leaders Isaac and Rebecca Walker, as well as in-game documents.
