Techland releases interactive movie as prequel to Hellraid

Hellraid

Hellraid is an upcoming singleplayer/co-op hack & slash game that pits players against the armies of hell. It comes to use from Techland, previously responsible for the Dead Island, Call of Juarez and Karaoke For Fun franchises. While it’s not quite out yet, Techland has decided to generate hype for the game with some creative marketing: an interactive movie title “Edyn’s Escape”.

The movie takes place a few weeks prior to the events of the game and displays environments and items that players will have access to when playing the finished product. The movie stars Brother Edyn, who has to escape from his own monastery after it has been overrun by a number of monsters. The player doesn’t directly control Edyn, but has to choose from options that pop up throughout the video that take the story into different directions. Naturally, picking the wrong one can result into Edyn’s tragic demise and forces you to restart.

I can respect a little creativity and it’s a pretty entertaining film, so check it out if you have the time. Hellraid is scheduled for a 2013 release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
