Have you ever been to Disneyland? I haven’t and at this rate it looks like I’m not ever going to. Being…you know, the age where you’re supposed to start taking your own kids… Anyway, thanks to video games, I can visit, in sort of a roundabout way. The Left 4 Dead 2 custom campaign Journey to Splash Mountain is now available on the Steam Workshop. The survivors head to Disneyland after hearing that it’s a military evacuation zone. This being Left 4 Dead and not a routine trip to Disneyland, it’s overrun with infected.
I had a chance to play through it and I can honestly say that it’s one of the more entertaining (and just overall better) custom campaigns I’ve ever played. It follows the original survivors on their way to Splash Mountain in Disneyland. On normal, it wasn’t that difficult, but I imagine that with some other additions and higher level difficulties, it would be pretty challenging.
The campaign is extremely detailed and from what I’ve read, pretty accurate of what the place actually looks like (as I said before…never been…*sadface*). Lots of Special Infected are littered throughout the maps with the campaign favouring Smokers (at least in my playthrough).
Journey to Splash Mountain is available on either the L4D Maps site or through the Steam Workshop. I had a little bit of difficulty using the Steam Workshop, but the Left 4 Dead Maps version worked great. I’ve played quite a few custom campaigns in Left 4 Dead and this is probably one of the best ones out there. You should definitely check it out if you’re a fan of the series and looking for some fresh content.
