A lot of people were disappointed when it was announced that the next game in the the beloved squad-based strategy series Breach & Clear was going to be an action title that plays in real-time. This new video that popped up on the publisher’s youtube channel shows off some of the people working on the game, the design philosophy and pre-alpha gameplay footage, but judging by the comment section people are still not warming up to Breach & Clear: Deadline.
I too felt conflicted about the game at first, but I do believe they can make it work as a twinstick shooter while still maintaining elements that made the original game great. If it still lets me upgrade my soldiers in any way I want and makes me dread making a wrong decision, then I will accept it despite of the new gameplay style. Breach & Clear: Deadline is scheduled to appear on Steam Early Access this Fall, but a final release date remains unknown.
