I’m maybe just a little bit too excited for this.
BioShock is one of my favorite games of all time, it spoke to me on an emotional and creative level very few other pieces of art have (so much so that I’m considering getting Jack’s chains tattoos), and I’m very eager to get my hands on the remastered collection, which contains all three games and all of their single-player DLC, as well as a new commentary by Ken Levine and Shawn Robertson. We still have a few more weeks to wait, but 2K is willing to show off a glimpse of what the original game looks like now, with sharper textures and better effects. The color especially is delicious to see now, as it glows cool and warm in a way that was previously somewhat choppy on last-gen consoles. Of course, this isn’t Halo: Anniversary or Resident Evil Zero HD levels of remaster, but it’s clear that some work has been put in.
We’ll have our thoughts on it as soon as we get our hands on BioShock: The Collection, which releases September 13th on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
