Night Dive Studios has made a recent discovery that has allowed them to further enhance System Shock: Enhanced Edition. Ain’t that neat?
Though an improvement over its original 1994 release, System Shock: Enhanced Edition remained clunky due to technical limitations faced by Night Dive — a studio who revived this IP and is currently at work on a full System Shock remake. The original System Shock source code has been found, meaning full access to what makes the game tick, allowing Night Dive to make more significant improvements and support for modern PC gaming features — like higher resolutions and mods.
The Source Port Update for System Shock: Enhanced Edition is now available to download via a free game update on Steam and GoG. Full patch notes are here.
