Switch Version of RE: Revelations 1&2 Supports Amiibo and Motion Controls

Hot damn, this is actually a major selling point for me.

The Nintendo Switch versions of Resident Evil: Revelations and Revelations 2 was playable on the show floor for TGS this year, and one lucky gamer got a chance to scope out some awesome additions to them!

First of all, they will support motion controls via the gyro sensors in the controllers and reloading with the IR sensor on the bottom of the right hand JoyCon controller. This is something I was desperately hoping would be added to this addition, as Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition is one of my favorite motion-control shooting experiences. It’ll be great to slip back into that style of gameplay – it’s only been used two other times that I’m aware of, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition on PS3 (which required the separate purchasing of a PS3 Eye Camera, Move controller, and optionally a Move Navigation controller) and the abysmal Dead Rising: Chop ‘Til You Drop (which butchered Dead Rising‘s design, story, and gameplay). If you haven’t tried it, I’d argue it might be the most fun way to play RE4 (albeit it does make the game slightly easier).

The next big piece of news is that the game will also have full Amiibo support. We don’t know exactly what context this will be used in, maybe tapping certain Amiibo will grant us extra items and whatnot. There is, however, the chance that this might be a hint at the game getting it’s own Amiibo figures. How amazing would it be to have Jill, Claire, Barry, maybe even a green herb as Amiibo figures? Here’s hoping. It’d also be equally amazing if tapping other kinds of Amiibos, like maybe a Samus Amiibo, could grant us access to special, exclusive items and weapons. Hunting Revenants and Ooze with say, Samus’ buster arm? Oh my god, friends.

We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available. Who knows what the Amiibo support actually will be, but we can dream, can’t we?
