Supermassive Games has unveiled a new Man of Medan trailer, titled ‘Ghost Ship’. If you’re familiar with Until Dawn and its choose-your-own-adventure style gameplay, then Man of Medan might be up your alley. With voice and motion-capture talent from the likes of Shawn Ashmore (X-Men and Quantum Break) and Pip Torrens (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), the game looks like its going to be another success in the vein of their last project.
The game trailer shows the same stormy sea that we’ve seen in the past few trailers and gameplay walkthroughs. So at this point, it seems undeniable that you’re trapped on this spooky ship with no escape. The ship certainly looks labyrinthine, sans Greek monster at the center, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have other variants of monsters to face. The trailer also continues to emphasize its moral compass system and repercussions for your in-game actions.
There are also leeches or parasites aplenty that will potentially infect or spawn from the chosen player character. (If you’ve seen the 2006 movie Slither, you get the idea.) Speaking of playable characters, there are five to choose from and each has their own story that will intertwine with the others. This game looks promising and continues to keep its greatest secrets close to the vest, only teasing what’s to come without truly revealing anything. Until Dawn, for example, had a red herring serial-killer plot that was executed terrifying well, only to gradually reveal that monstrous Wendigos were really offing your friends one-by-one. So suffice to say, Man of Medan is likely going to bring plenty of surprises.
The Dark Pictures—Man of Medan is still pending a finalized ESRB rating. However, the game is slated for a 2019 release on Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam. To survive, which path will you choose?
