Having been in development for three years now, STASIS aims to bring elements of Triple AAA sci-fi titles such as Dead Space, Halo, and Mass Effect to the 2D point-and-click adventure world. Developed by The Brotherhood, which is led by Christopher Bischoff, there are nineteen days left for the game to reach it’s $100,000 goal. It’s currently over halfway there.
The game follows John Marachek, our protagonist, as he explores the derelict space ship, the Groomlake, in search of his family. Time is ticking against the clock as the ship is slowly falling into deadly methane clouds. In addition to the time threat and in good old fashioned sci-fi flavor, horror experiments and illicit research done on the ship are going to try and kill John as well.
I’m personally blown away by the detail in this game. The artwork is typically something you’d find in bigger budgeted titles like Dead Space and Mass Effect, but Bischoff has made it clear he wants to pull elements from those games into the 2D isometric world, and he’s clearly doing it well.
The games music is also scored by Mark Morgan, whose created the tunes for games like Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Planescap Torment, Wasteland 2, and others! It sounds like his talents fit this game to a T.
An alpha for the game is available on PC and Mac from the Kickstarter page. Will you be backing this game?
