Square Enix’s community manager George Kelion has confirmed to VG247 that a new Legacy of Kain game is in the works, but the game is not a “traditional” game to be expected from the series. “Nosgoth is set in the same universe as previous LoK games, but on a different branch to the Blood Omen and Soul Reaver series. The community should not be thinking of Nosgoth in terms of a single-player experience.” Kelion told VG247. Kelion also confirmed that the title is not being developed by Crystal Dynamics. “We don’t want people to get the wrong idea about Nosgoth following the AMD and Steam leaks ahead of its future official announcement. Nosgoth is not being developed by Crystal Dynamics,” he then added, “Crystal Dynamics are not working on a Legacy of Kain game”.
Disappointing news? Sure, but let’s see what this game is before we start to wipe away tears. It’s a bit of a let down that the first game to appear in the series in a decade is not a traditional Legacy of Kain/Soul Reaver title, but perhaps Square Enix is just testing the waters to see if the fanbase is large enough to fund a real comeback for this gothic series. I guess we’ll get a few answers next week. I suspect an RTS of sorts.
