Akaneiro: Demon Hunters has already been available for Windows since January, so I am pretty sure that most people who were interested in the game have played it by now. Those few souls who had to skip on it due to their system running Linux can now rejoice, however, since the promised Linux versions are on their way.
This was revealed on the game’s Kickstarter page and also in an email addressed to several members of the press. While it is currently not known when the game will launch or what changes it will include, Spicy Horse did reveal which versions of Linux it will support. Ubuntu (12.04 and 12.10), OpenSUSE (12.1 to 12.3) and Fedora (17 and 18) will have playable versions of Akaneiro available at launch.
A beta will also be available at a yet unknown time. We (or rather I) already covered this game back in January and since I gave it a generous 2.5/10, most of you probably already guessed that I am not going to try this Linux port out (even though I do have Ubuntu installed and operational over here). Regardless, I hope that those who are brave enough to venture into this game will derive more joy from the experience than I did.
