Sound of Silence now in development

Earlier this year, we brought you news of an innovative new horror tile Sound of Silence.  Swedish game designer Michael Chiniquy wowed the  gaming community with a video using Unity 3D and Adobe After Effects to help explain the idea of building a game that changes based on the player’s personal fears.

Sound of Silence is now in formal development at independent studio Pathfinder Games.  Concept artwork, 3D modelling, level design and story-writing are already underway.  The game is set to feature a full, immersive narrative and a range of open and complex environments.

Lead designer Michael Chinquay stated in an interview that it’s up to the player to bring back the games that we love.  With Sound of Silence, he hopes to accomplish this by not treating horror-gaming veterans like newcomers and taking off the kid-proof gloves.  Sound of Silence aims to throw the player into a full-on nightmarish experience unlike others they’ve ever faced.  The game will analyze your fears and play straight to them, less reliant on jump scares and set pieces and more defined by atmosphere and the unknown.

A public demo is planned for October 2013, and the game is slated for a PC only release right now.  We’re excited to see what Pathfinder Games has in store for us.
