Heavy Rain was quite an ambitious game, pushing the medium of video games ever so closer to a more serious one, worthy of being called art. Now, I’m not going to delve into that whole “are games art”” discussion, but I’ll just say that Heavy Rain was one of the most immersive experiences I’ve ever played on the PlayStation 3. I’ll leave it at that.
I’m not the only one that feels this way it seems, since many critics gave it much praise. So it doesn’t come as a surprise that Sony has decided to repackage the game, this time with some extra goodies, with the November 8 release of Heavy Rain: Director’s Cut. The extra goodies in question are listed below. Will you be double dipping with this re-release? Or will this Director’s Cut be the first time you experience Heavy Rain?
- Complete, original game, Heavy Rain
- Heavy Rain Chronicles: Episode 1 – The Taxidermist DLC
- Heavy Rain Original Videogame Score by award-winning film and television composer, Normand Corbeil (16 tracks)
- New front-end menu and interface with built-in Move support
- A series of 8 “Making of” Bonus Videos
- Three Dynamic Themes (Heavy Rain, Heavy Rain ARI Forest, Heavy Rain ARI Mars)
- 15 additional pieces of new concept art
- 2 bonus Trailers (Thank You Trailer, Love Trailer)
Oh, and as an added bonus: Sony will be giving out the Heavy Rain Crime Scene Dynamic Theme for the always sexy price of free to all PSN users (Plus or minus) once the game hits next week.
