Keiichiro Toyama, known for creating beloved games like Silent Hill, Siren, and Gravity Rush, is back with a new title, Slitterhead, which will launch on November 8th for PlayStation, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Despite working with a limited budget, Toyama believes the game still offers a unique experience worth exploring. Though Slitterhead may feel a bit “rough around the edges,” it reflects Toyama’s commitment to originality and creativity, qualities that have defined his career.
In a recent interview with Game Rant, Toyama said:
From the very first “Silent Hill,” we have maintained a commitment to freshness and originality, even if it means being a bit rough around the edges. That attitude has remained consistent throughout my works and in Slitterhead.
Earlier this year, in a conversation with VGC, he said:
My motive was always to create original games. I feel I can do this without a massive budget. This allows me to express myself as well. By going independent, this has allowed me to do that. From my time at Sony, I feel like I’m accomplishing what I want to do.
Toyama, who previously worked at Sony’s Japan Studio until its closure in 2021, has now established Bokeh Game Studio, an independent studio where he can bring his ideas to life. With Slitterhead, Toyama aims to provide players with a fresh and innovative adventure, staying true to the spirit of originality that has always driven his work.
