During the previous Silent Hill Transmission in 2022, Konami officially announced the Silent Hill 2 remake and multiple new games in the series, including Silent Hill f; and Silent Hill: Townfall. The livestream event also saw the shadow drop of the PS5 exclusive Silent Hill: The Short Message.
Konami has again shared a wealth of new info during this year’s Silent Hill Transmission. This includes 13 minutes of gameplay and a release date trailer for the highly-anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2, developed by Bloober Team. The game is set to be released on October 8th, 2024.
The release date trailer gave us our first glimpse of the tortured supporting character Angela Orosco, showing her in various scenes with protagonist Sunderland, such as their graveyard meeting and Abstract Daddy boss area. The new trailer also showed off some amazingly detailed environments and multiple classic enemy types that now seem to emit a piercing scream that momentarily incapacitates James.
The combat system shown in the Extended Gameplay trailer looks much more robust than in the original game. Original series composer Akira Yamaoka returns to faithfully recreate all of the game’s iconic sounds, atmospherics, and music. There will be both Standard and Deluxe versions of the game. Digital pre-orders for the Standard Edition will include the game and cosmetic masks for James while the Deluxe Edition will include the game, a digital artwork, soundtrack, Pyramid Head mask, Mira the Dog mask, Robbie the Rabbit mask (PS5-only), and 48-hour Early Access.
You can pre-order the game now via PSN and Steam. Below, you can view a breakdown of the different versions and what they include.
