A 2D psychological horror adventure, Silence of the Sleep has just been revealed. The game’s story centres around a man named Jacob Reeves, who in an effort to commit suicide, winds up in the middle of a nightmare. The game’s website only went live a few days ago, and information on the game right now seems very limited. That would be because the game itself is only 10% complete. However, the game looks to incorporate a neat art style and plenty of unnerving moments. Plus, we’re always excited to find new horror games from the indie scene. Particularly because the indie scene can do it better than most big names out there today.
In the teaser trailer, Jacob laments being only a shadow, and Silence of the Sleep keeps him that way – character sprites are all shadows. Now some of you might instantly compare that to The Boy from Limbo and while on the surface (or…shadow?) they do seem similar, just one look at Silence of the Sleep tells you that’s where the similarities end. From what we’ve gathered so far, exploration, puzzles and perhaps some light combat are in store for the 2D platformer. The game will have a minimal interface (no HUD or energy meters) which will hopefully foster a better feeling of immersion. What is most striking however is that art style!
Jacob will explore a dark, twisted world to discover the reason he was sent there in the first place. The game is planned for release on the PC in 2014.
Take a look at the teaser, check out the Silence of the Sleep website and hit up the game’s Facebook page to show your support. Seriously, that teaser alone had me jumping. The third time I watched it.
