It Shadows of the Damned could be getting a sequel. Grasshopper is considering continuing the series and possibly getting EA involved. After its release last year the first game did not do as well as Grasshopper had hoped, even with the talents of Shinji Mikami, Suda51 and Akira Yamaoka stapled attached to the game. On its first month it sold 24,000 units upon its release in America, but those low numbers have not stopped the company from contemplating moving forward with its ball-busting demon slayer.
When asked about a potential sequel Yamaoka had this to say:
“I’m thinking of a sequel, actually. I can’t tell you here, but clearly I’d like to.”
It seems Akira is definitely on board and that alone is a strong statement about the sequel’s status. When asked if EA would back a sequel, Yamaoka said “probably” before finishing with “Well, yes”.
Let’s see how far these hopes and vague confirmations take us.
