Valve has announced today that several horror games on Steam Greenlight have received enough interest from the community to be brought to Steam. Among the Sleep, Centration, Darkwood, and Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut have all been Greenlit as of today.
Among the Sleep is a horror game in which you play as a 2 year old child. It was officially funded on Kickstarter back in May and hailed for its interpretation of childhood horrors. I’ve played the demo and it was quite something. Playing from the perspective of a small child is both unique and effective in achieving quality scares. We have a preview available as well. Janus posted her own preview last May.
As for Centration, I’ve not heard of it until today, but the idea of a multiplayer survival horror game that pits players against each other through hidden agendas sounds pretty cool. Next up is Darkwood, a top-down survival horror game that puts players in a procedurally generated world filled with creepy threats and foreboding environments.
Last;y, we’ve got Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut–a PC port of this year’s PS3 re-release of the cult classic. My review of Deadly Premonition: Director’s Cut can be found here. Now that it’s coming to PC I would hope that framerate issues will no longer be of concern. I’m not too keen on it’s PC exclusive content just being some more DLC, but I’ll still be checking it out.
The full list of the newly Greenlit games can be found at the source.
