S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Shows Off More Gameplay Ahead of Release

Heart of ChornobyGSC Game World showed a new trailer for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 at the Xbox Games Showcase ahead of the game’s upcoming September 5th release.

Recently, it has been rather quiet around S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 – Heart of Chornobyl, which isn’t exactly a given, considering the game’s troubled history.

The new trailer titled “The Time of Opportunities” shows quite a lot of new gameplay footage and gives plenty of speculation on creative ways The Zone will try to end your journey in the most gruesome ways.

All in all, the new video does a good job at showing just how diverse the settings in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 are going to be. Starting off in a bunker, we venture outside quickly revealing the fantastic-looking woods. We then are taken to an industrial complex, a swampy area where we encounter what looks like pseudodogs. We crawl through subterranean tunnels riddled with anomalies before having a brutal one-on-one fight with, let’s call it a competitor, which ends in a way that will certainly be stuck in his head for a while longer.

We feel the cozy atmosphere of an underground settlement where we see a small, scantily lit makeshift bar, attracting, presumably, dodgy drunkards. There are dark rooms with weapons traders and god knows what hiding in the shadows. This little village seems like a right old hive of scum and villainy.

One of the most impressive sights in the entire trailer is the tornado featured prominently as it tears its way through a lot of shipping containers, creating an especially eerie and intimidating scene.

Overall, the graphical fidelity and diversity of what is shown remains nothing short of impressive. The lush outdoor environments are riddled with minute detail and the character models seem so much grittier and lifelike than what we still see in most games today and we cannot wait to get our hands on this game, after more than ten years of development.
