Here’s one very interesting rumor. Recently we’ve been hearing rumors revolving around Retro Studios, who have been responsible for major Nintendo titles like the Metroid Prime trilogy and Donkey Kong Country Returns. Those rumors state that the Texas-based developer is currently hard at work developing a title for the Wii successor (Project Cafe). And that title is none other than Eternal Darkness 2, a sequel to one of the Gamecube’s most cherished titles that sadly wasn’t met with commercial success.
Keep in mind these are just rumors as of right now, but they’re definitely interesting. Such a project wouldn’t be too hard to picture Retro Studios being hard at work on right now especially considering the shift between both of their most recent Nintendo franchise offerings. Going from the Metroid Prime trilogy to Donkey Kong Returns, Retro Studios still developed quality titles that have been very critically acclaimed and cherished among Nintendo fans. Now, if these rumors end up being true, it seems that Retro Studios is going to try their hand at the survival horror genre.
